Abigail Gibbs: The Dark Heroine - Dinner with a Vampire

Yessss. Finally a young adult fiction which actually depicts vampires as beasts. After sparkly vampires, vegetarian vampires, vampires saving humanity etc. this was a refreshing read. I really enjoyed the fact that the human must accept the ugly side of vampire nature because it's not going to be a pleasure ride once in the world of vampires. To say nothing of the fact that the human has no choice. You can always become a vampire or just refuse it in the books, right? Well, not here. You are a prisoner, your destiny has been written long time ago and you have no choice. Just accept it and save yourself some trouble. Of course, vampires aren't total beasts in here - they are loyal to their families, they have a rather complex royal system but that changes nothing about the fact that they are the ultimate predators and humans are just cattle. No one is going to lie to you in their world, they will show you just where you belong.
There is romance in it, of course (how else would you attract teenagers to read it?), but it's somehow crooked just like the whole world it's set in.
Awesome. Just hurry to your nearest bookstore and get one!

GENRE: crooked romance
FANGS OUT: vampires being vampires
FANGS RETRACTING: I just don't get how the girl who is thrown into the vampire world can actually accept the murderous side of her crazy vampire boyfriend
TOTAL SCORE:
