Ossuary visit

OSSUARY VISIT

One day, I heard in the news that the winter was one of the longest we'd ever lived through - that meant there was almost no sun shining through  the constant layer of snow clouds, which, in consequence, made people miserable. Honestly, I hadn't even noticed the absence of the sun. Yay, what a happy ignorant person I was!
However, after hearing the dreadful news, I also started to feel a tiny seed of depression growing somewhere deep within my body. I immediately missed the sun - sheesh, that came from a person who loathes summer because it's too "shiny" :-)=
Fortunately, there was a cure for this. My best friend invited me and a couple of others to spend a weekend more north at her place. That sounded promising. For some reason, they had the frickin' sun up there more often that us in the South.
And how did we fill the time? Sightseeing, of course! And what did it include? Well, tons of hours spent INSIDE old buildings, which brought some to even higher level of despair, for knowing the sun was out there but you were in here...
One of the must-see attractions of Kutná Hora region includes Sedlec Ossuary. As a student, I payed only 40 Crowns (2 Dollars) for admittance.  And spent twice as much on a fridge magnet - I just can't help it, I always buy this kind of good-for-nothing items which then get lost in the course of time. I guess I just want to have the whole tourist experience and that wouldn't be possible without useless stuff saying "I was there!" :-)=

Upon entering the small ossuary, I couldn't help but notice how crowded it was - the room was really small and the foreign tourists filled the place. However, I was shocked to see so many bones and skulls (yeah, I go to an ossuary and expect to see two or three people's skeletons being eternally exposed). The place was magnificent. The brochure said we were looking at 40.000 people's remnants which were put into pyramids, chandeliers, crests etc.  by a half-blind monk with a lot of free time.

Now I know why it is a frequently visited place. It's scary, yet it makes you think of life and death and other stuff you usually don't think about much because thinking hurts :-)= So if you ever find yourself around Kutná Hora, Czech Republic, don't hesitate and Czech it out ;-)=
