I'm in a book! *squee* How did that happen? AKA One life Goal Achieved

*squeeeeeeeee* Sorry about that but I've know this for a couple of months now and yet I still totally fangirl about it. It's not every day you meet a character bearing your name. And it's not everyday you were the reason for the character to be named that way.
Because how can I not freak out?! There was a contest I found on the Instagram at @oncebittentwicedie where the author was offering to name a character after you (or give a name of your choice) in exchange of some very cool picture of you reading his book. That was a challenge I couldn't resist. Because postapocalyptic world with vampires! That's why!
At first I took two lame pictures of me being very chill with a glass of blood or just reading the book with my mouth open (not the very smartest-looking thing but how else can you see the fangs?!) but later I came out with a better idea.
I wanted to win so I was hesitating whether quantity or quality would be a better approach. So I did both.
I came up with this cool idea of hanging upside down and reading so I managed to persuade my friend to do a photoshoot with me. It was hell. Vampires are overdressed for summer I must admit. I was sweating before I got out of my house (try putting on pantyhose on sweaty legs!) and then in my vampire glory I had to go to a very populated area with those swings and merry-go-rounds for kids. There were kids. I scared them away. And assumed my position on one of their metal construction. My skirt didn't defy gravity. There were people watching. My friend had to pin my skirt to my pantyhose (and accidentally to my thigh). The stockings get slippery on metal stuff by the way. As I was hanging upside down all I could see were those blocks of flats around and more and more people on their balconies watching. I started getting sick from all that blood in my head and thought I might faint. I didn't but it was a close call.
So I'm really proud of the picture because after almost dying, everyone seeing my underwear and scaring everyone within one kilometre radius, I got chosen to be a book character. *squeeeeeeee*
I'll include a proper review with a ton of quotes about the mysterious Czech girl in postapocalyptic Britain of TWICE BITTEN, TWICE DIE after I'm exhausted from boasting about it. So far I carry it around and shove it into every face I meet :-D= Because it is, hands down, the coolest thing to happen to me this year.
I think you should go and buy it. No, honestly, until now it was a good series but now that it has a character with a weird name in it, it's  just excellent :-)=

Super Moon

I was woken up by the Moon tonight. My super opaque curtains created a small slit where they meet and through that some frickin' bright light seeped in and disturbed my slumber. It was like going to the beach! The burn! I don't wear sun block at night but now that I think of it I should probably start.
Anyway, later I read the news and learned it was supposed to be Super Moon or something so naturally I took my camera and hoped that I would make some nice pictures. You know how it is. You hope for a gigantic ball in the sky and when the photo comes out, it's just a small blip of light.
And just as predicted, the first photo was like that.
But I started fooling around with my camera - there are those modes like sport, fireworks and stuff so I held hope it would be better.
Which turned out quite lame. All the night settings made the moon blurrier and smaller even more than the daylight settings.
But then, when I was losing hope, I found it! Even my shitty cheap digital thingy can produce a nice Moon picture :-)= Awoooooo!

I went nuts

My friend and I are sitting in the living room, talking about nothing and everything as usual when I suddenly recall a thing I wanted to show her. I reach into the fruit bowl and take out a peanut which is oddly shaped and that's why I haven't eaten it yet. I want it to be famous for its deserved 15 minutes (or whatever it takes to show everyone) and then eat it...
So I hold it in front of my friend's face and say: "Look! A kiwi!"
My friend shifts uncomfortably, probably thinking I finally went over the edge. You know, that one between sanity and lunacy.
"No, really, it's a kiwi!" I say, swinging it in front of her face from a different angle so that maybe this time she can recognise the shape.
"It's a peanut."
"No, look closely! It looks like that frickin' bird!"
"Oh, God! Yes! I thought you thought the fruit." And she realxes, probably abandoning her improptu plan how to excuse herself from our meeting and how to never see me again.

Why It's Good to Get a University Diploma

You think it's obvious, right? You get a better job, you get a salary raise etc. But the ugly truth of today is that the jobs are scarce and if you take a look at the number of university graduates and the number of jobs offered in the field they just got their diplomas in, you get two totally different figures.
So, ahem, the sense of accomplishment, maybe? Sure, you have worked hard, right? Again, if you compare the hours actually spent studying with the hours spent focused on different activities (drinking new kinds of alcohol, working, sleeping, going to cinema, walking your dogs, etc. - just avoiding lectures in all ways imaginable) you realize that should you had been focused only at school you would have already gotten that damned piece of paper. Let’s face it, the recommended amount of five years for your Master’s Degree could have been shrunk to three if you weren’t fooling around. But that’s how the system works. The University counts on your misbehavior and lack of discipline and that’s why they give you those five years instead of less. So, even though you know you should have worked harder, it wasn’t entirely your fault.
Which leaves us with the gifts you get after you proudly show your diploma to your friends and relatives. I know, I know, giving is more thrilling than receiving but since you’ve been around long enough to appreciate gifts as well, you can indulge yourself in the stuff your loved ones prepared for you. They have known you for long after all and that’s why you know they can only give you the coolest things.
So you actually find yourself drowned in alcohol (good way to go liver! because in your new life doctors are much more expensive since you are no longer a student supported by the state) and surrounded by food because celebrating with everyone is a thing. And apart from going from a restaurant to a pub nonstop for a week or so, crazy people like your brother actually know you will always have an unhealthy relationship with food and will buy you half a frickin’ salmon! And since it's fresh you will find yourself eating the humongous fish every day. Like that can stop you from loving it, though. There is never enough of salmon, ok?
Then, your home will start to look like a funeral home since people will shower you with flowers. And since you love lilies the most, that funeral feeling will spring into a many a mind. But who cares! This is your celebration and you can love what you want despite the general misconception that only the dead can be surrounded by lilies.
You will also get to try new food. Oh, food again, I know. Because someone for sure noticed you talking about macarons and how cute they are and how you want to try them but can’t find them. And when you find them, they are too expensive and you are afraid to buy a whole bunch in case they are too bad. So you get a package now and oh boy! You fall in love with the chocolate and LAVENDER ones. I mean seriously, it tastes just like it smells. You will never look at the lavender in your garden the same way again :-)=
And as the last gift, you get a clue. A crazy cat necklace and a blurry close-up of some city. Sure, that is a no-brainer, actually. Who wouldn't recognize Barcelona's most famous pieces by Gaudí? And since you worked the puzzle out immediately, you get a financial contribution to your dream trip to Spain. So, now nothing holds you away from your artsy trip. I mean, yeah, gotta wait for the holidays but still...
So don’t tell me you wouldn’t feel better after this. People around you always know how to appreciate you and it would be rude not to let them ;-)=

Just hanging around...

Find what's wrong with the picture.Yes! The graffiti looks terrible.
I'm derping my way through the town, looking for some presents to buy when I cast a look at a bike. Nothing weird here, I continue staring into the shop windows when my brain says something in the last picture I sent to analyze was odd. So I take a look back at the bike and see a dog staring at me from a floral tote bag.
The owner comes after I'm done with the picture so I don't have to explain anything. All I can do is guess. The owner is a really old guy. The dog has grey hair around its muzzle, so it is probably old as well.  I think this is the best way for this obviously inseparable duo to get to town as efficiently as possible without tiring their feet (paws).
I'm heading into a shop now seeing the old guy hop onto his bike and ride away. However, when I emerge from the shop, the dog is back only securely put into the bike holder now. I look around and see the old guy at the florist's across the street buying a gargantuan pot with a white chrysanthemum plant.
I had to hurry for the bus so I never saw where in the hell the old guy put the plant but the dog totally OK with his/her destiny of hanging in the bag made my day.
Resting its head on the light and waiting.

Someone doesn't like this photoshoot.
Patiently looking in the distance, wishing for the owner to get back asap so that the weirdo stops taking the pictures...
